A courtesy visit to YB Wong Hon Wai 黄汉伟

The Penang Chefs Association recently paid a courtesy visit to YB Wong Hon Wai 黄汉伟, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, to discuss several exciting initiatives that will further strengthen Penang’s position as a leading culinary destination.

The discussion focused on the upcoming Battle of the Chefs 2026, scheduled to take place from 21–24 October 2026, where chefs from across the region will gather to showcase their skills, creativity, and culinary excellence.

In addition, both parties exchanged ideas on a new Tourism Culinary Heritage Initiative, aimed at preserving, promoting, and celebrating Penang’s rich culinary traditions while enhancing the state’s tourism offerings through food culture and heritage.

Representing the Penang Chefs Association were Chef Audee Cheah, Chef Kok Kah Tatt, and Chef Warren Tan TL, who shared PCA’s vision for developing the culinary industry and nurturing future generations of chefs.

PCA extends its appreciation to YB Wong Hon Wai for his time, support, and commitment towards advancing Penang’s culinary and tourism landscape.
